Mallets Bay

Emptying the cooler bottle 2 1/2 inches
Replacing the schedule line
Removing the anchor bumper
Adding a little motor oil and transmission
The unbearable odour is definitely gone. Relief.

12:00. Leave our anchorage at North Beach

It is a beautiful clear day with tiny cumulus clouds. Beautiful day to sail to the bottom of Mallett's Bay.

The winds were mainly north but variable in direction and strength between 8 and 12 knots.

We made a video of the transmission and sent it to Greg, the mechanic boss of the Shelburne Shipyard Services, waiting for his email back with an estimate of the repairs and possibly an appointment to change the clutch. Yes, the problem is not solved, the noise is still present and now we are starting to lose the reverse.

An excellent day of sailing in the direction of Mallett's Bay, with a good steady wind we advanced well, tacking towards the entrance of the opening in the breakwater.

Daniele doesn't like this ... "the worst is that once passed it will be necessary to come back out".

Our first attempt was nerve-racking.  Although we negotiated it extremely slowly following the indications that I figured out from Norm's waypoint.  The depth gauge does not stop sounding the alarm and to display impossible depths, up to 1.9 feet !!

We come back out and I study the paper charts and the cruising guides more and it seems that I was doing the right thing.  It was just a matter of TRUST and FAITH.

Bellum has five feet of draft. It is certain that the reading is distorted by the seaweed but when it is the first time that you take this way well ... <Daniele> I stopped breathing.

We try it again and motored slowly using the braille method of gently not touching the ground and we make it through, regardless of what the depth sound said.

Once this difficult time has passed, the landscape is well worth it.

5:27 pm Anchored in front of the deserted beach of a Niquette Bay State Park,  the bay furthest from the entrance.  I would have preferred the bay before "Braeloch", but Daniele would not have that.  It was too tight for her.

We will be only two sailboats. The sun warms us and the breeze cools us and a few waves waved us. The water is beautifully good here, it is 25.5 C. I take this opportunity to wash the soot accumulated on the transom. Bellum has a clean ass!

19:30 Children have fun jumping from the top of a big rock. Three came by motorboat and two others from the shore. What energy, they have a crazy pleasure.
